When in Rome Intro

I feel that I should issue a health warning for this story. Fuck you, fuck all of you who try to censor literature, art, theatre, porn. I know a good deal of it is bollocks, but it doesn't mean it should be banned. My stories are not high art - you don't expect them to be - but I think I have to explain that this one is based in a different time, with attitudes we would rightly baulk at today. No progress is made without mistakes, learning from them, and finding ways to fuck up all on our own. The players:
Paulus Quimillius Hornisus, a merchant of great success, candidate for Senate, and welcome noise in the Emperor's ear.
Julia, his sister, fucked by Paulus before she was old enough to bleed, but now joined to him with utter loyalty..... And powerful in her own right..... And just a little insane.
Druscilla, who happens to be the sister of Claudius the Magistrate (who does not attend orgies) is married to Julius, who does. In his own way.
Seneca, lover of a frustrated Druscilla, and husband to Philomena, who has her own designs on Paulus and is intensely envious of Julia.
Philomena, yes, wife of Seneca, I should mention is the dearest friend of Calpurnia, with whom Paulus recently enjoyed a long week in the country, which remains a secret thanks to the efforts of Lucius, the most trusted of Paulus's slaves.
Calpurnia in turn is wife to Antony and step-mother to the young Portia.
Antony, a merchant whose ships have been lost in a freak storm, and in need of Paulus's help before he and his daughter Portia become destitute, will do anything to save his rapidly diminishing wealth.
